BHUBANESWAR: The suggestions received from business communities and industrialists during the recent roadshows and one-on-one meetings in different cities are likely to be incorporated by the government in the policy document to be introduced during the Make in
Odisha conclave, scheduled from November 30 to December 4.
A source in the state industries department said the government is likely to come up with four new policies, including an industrial policy which was last unveiled in 2015 and amended from time to time.
“Since several things have changed now, we have decided to update the policy with better incentives and other benefits for investors. The suggestions which we have received from the investors during the recent meeting in different cities will be incorporated in the new industrial policy,” said a senior government official.
The government along with its industry partner Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) held roadshows in cities like Ahmedabad, New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad to engage with investors and to invite them to the state.
Barring the roadshows in Ahmedabad and Kolkata, Naveen attended the programmes in all other cities and held one-on-one meetings with over 200 investors from different sectors.
Though the draft of the new industrial policy will be released within the next few days, it is likely to focus on creation of industrial infrastructure for different sectors apart from offering incentives and benefits.
Official sources also said the state will focus on bringing investment in new-age sectors like green hydrogen and green ammonia, data centres and manufacturing of electric vehicle and its components.
Such sectors have very little presence in the state. The proposed policy will emphasize on creation of large-sized industrial clusters in dedicated sectors.
“Even though we have dedicated clusters like aluminium park, info-valley, petroleum, chemicals and petrochemicals investment region and seafood park, the investors during the roadshows suggested for the creation of mega industrial clusters,” said the official.
